Julia comes from Ukraine and she graduated from Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University with master’s degree in teaching English as a second language and attended dozens of lectures in Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. This is her second year in CUMT and she finds it really notable to work alongside great foreign teachers in CUMT. Also she has previous experience teaching at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University.
Lecture Synopsis: Some superstitions are so ingrained in modern English-speaking societies that everyone, from lay people to scientists, succumb to them (or, at least, feel slightly uneasy about not doing so). But why don't we walk under ladders? Why do nonreligious people "God bless" a sneeze? And why do we avoid at all costs opening umbrellas indoors? Find out the origins of all these familiar customs, and more.
